Assisi is preparing to welcome a new and extraordinary edition of the San Francesco Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, November 22, 2026. After the great success of the 2025 edition, Umbria’s most important running event is ready to start again with much-anticipated news for runners and enthusiasts alike: registrations will reopen very soon.
The course will remain unchanged from last year, confirming a route appreciated for its beauty, smooth layout, and strong symbolic value. The race will once again unfold along the Roads of Saint Francis, passing through iconic locations of the Franciscan territory between Assisi, Bastia Umbra, and Spello, with both the start and finish set at the foot of the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels.
The 2026 edition will carry an even deeper significance: it marks the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, a milestone of great historical and spiritual importance that will make the marathon a truly symbolic journey, as well as a sporting event.
