REGULATION
SAN FRANCESCO MARATHON 2024 – ASSISI

ASSISI, NOVEMBER 17, 2024

RULES AND INFORMATION

Life Running Assisi SD – Fidal code PG100 – in collaboration with and under the patronage of the Diocese of Assisi – Gualdo Tadino – Nocera Umbra and the city of Assisi, organizes the San Francesco Marathon 2024, a road running event, in Assisi, included in the FIDAL National Calendar.

COURSE CHARACTERISTICS

The competition takes place over the distance of:

Men and Women: 42.195 km certified by FIDAL
10 km Competitive and 10 km non-competitive

PARTICIPATION CRITERIA

Eligible participants include:

Italian and foreign athletes registered for 2024 with FIDAL-affiliated clubs, belonging to the Promises, Seniors (including Master age groups) categories;
Foreign athletes registered with Foreign Federations affiliated with World Athletics, presenting proof of registration at the time of registration;
Italian/foreign athletes not registered in Italy, holding a club card affiliated with Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics. At the time of registration, they must alternatively present self-certification of possession of the card recognized by World Athletics. Non-EU foreign athletes must also present their federation’s authorization or self-certification of registration, and a residence permit or entry visa. N.B. Athletes registered with a Foreign Federation affiliated with World Athletics who are not registered by their Federation or Club must sign a self-certification attesting to their registration;
Italian and foreign athletes registered with Sports Promotion Entities (athletics) affiliated with FIDAL for the 2022 season, holders of RUNCARD EPS. Italian and foreign citizens aged 20 and over (born in 2003), holding RUNCARD EPS and a valid medical certificate for competitive athletics, are eligible to participate.
Italian and foreign RUNCARD holders residing in Italy. Italian and foreign citizens residing in Italy, aged 20 and over (born in 2002), holding a Standard RUNCARD issued by FIDAL (info@runcard.com) and a valid medical certificate for competitive athletics, are eligible to participate.
Italian and foreign RUNCARD holders residing abroad. Italian and foreign citizens residing abroad, aged 20 and over (born in 2002), not registered with a foreign athletics club affiliated with World Athletics, or an Italian club affiliated with FIDAL or a Sports Promotion Entity, holding a Standard RUNCARD issued by FIDAL (info@runcard.com) and a valid medical certificate for competitive athletics, are eligible to participate.
N.B. The Standard or EPS RUNCARD is renewable and shows the expiration date. If, on the day of the event, the card is found to be expired during the check, the athlete cannot participate unless presenting a receipt of online renewal.
N.B. All athletes participating with a Standard or EPS RUNCARD will be regularly included in the official race ranking, but will not be eligible for refunds and/or bonuses nor access to the prize money.

IMPORTANT – Participation requires presenting a valid medical certificate of fitness for competitive athletics in Italy. A medical certificate issued in the athlete's home country is acceptable if it complies with the diagnostic exams required by Italian law for competitive activity. The medical certificate must be presented in original at registration and must be completed, signed, and stamped by the certifying doctor.

Models of certificates differing from those indicated below will not be accepted.

Non-registered foreign athletes: within the competitive event, only non-registered foreign citizens can be authorized to participate in the non-competitive section with tourist/sporting purposes, limited to those aged 20 and over (born in 2002). As highlighted in the explanatory note of the Ministry of Health dated 06/17/2015 related to the Decree of the Ministry of Health dated 08/08/2014, foreign citizens are not required to present a medical certificate but must sign a waiver (download and complete the waiver) towards the organizers. These participants will be included in an alphabetical arrival order separate from the competitive event rankings and will not be eligible for prizes in kind, money, value vouchers, bonuses, engagements, reimbursements of any kind.

BIB AND RACE PACK PICKUP

The race bib is personal and cannot be transferred or exchanged. It must be attached to the chest with four pins in such a way as to be fully visible: it cannot be folded and must remain intact.
The chip will be positioned on the back of the bib and must not be removed for any reason, under penalty of exclusion from the ranking.

For pickup, each athlete must present the confirmation letter received by email and an identity document - Bibs and race packs can be picked up at the Marathon Village.

Event t-shirts are guaranteed to the first 900 registered for the marathon, the first 600 for the 10K competitive, and the first 300 for the 10K non-competitive.

STARTING METHODS

The starting methods will be established a few days before the event, considering the updated federal protocols at that time.

The first 5 teams with the highest number of participants will also be awarded in both the 10k and 42.195km.

N.B. According to article 38 of the Fidal Regulation, paragraphs 4, 5, 6:
“In road races of the National Calendar (Gold, Silver, or Bronze), 25% of the prize money actually awarded to the top finishers is reserved for Italian athletes and "equivalent Italians" and is cumulative with the prizes awarded for the ranking position. The prizes for Italians may be reduced or canceled according to the following timing parameters:
Men's marathon: the 25% prize money may not be awarded for performances over 2h30'00.
Women's marathon: the 25% prize money may not be awarded for performances over 2h55'00.
Any timing or performance bonuses of another kind are additional to the prize money. The payment of the prizes provided for in paragraph 4) is intended to be in cash”.

Furthermore, the General ranking prizes are reserved for all athletes registered with FIDAL or Foreign Federations affiliated with World Athletics.

No monetary prize (or similar type: general value vouchers, bonuses, engagements, reimbursements of any kind and for any reason) can be provided for holders of “Runcard” allowed to participate in FIDAL events. The top three absolute finishers are excluded from the category rankings. Prize money and any bonuses will be paid (subject to anti-doping results) by bank transfer by December 31, 2024, and subject to Law no. 342/2000.

Athletes are requested to send a photocopy of an identity document, tax code, and IBAN code for the issuance of the bank transfer, to the email address sfm2024@icron.it.

CATEGORY PRIZES

N.B. PRIZES NOT COLLECTED ON THE DAY WILL NOT BE SENT TO YOUR HOME AND WILL BE ENTIRELY DONATED TO CHARITY

The prizes for each category consist of various items and must be collected on the day of the race.

STARTING GRIDS

The possible presence of starting grids will be communicated on the official website 10 (ten) days before the event.

BAG DEPOSIT

Each participant will receive, along with the bib, a sticker with their bib number to be applied to the personal belongings bag.
In the starting area, there will be structures where participants, according to their bib number, can hand in their clothing bags; these must be collected in the finish area by showing their bib number.
Only official event bags and not personal bags of significant bulk such as trolleys and/or suitcases will be accepted. Delivery in the START AREA is mandatory: from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM.
The organization is not responsible for items left inside the bags.

REFRESHMENTS

According to the WORLD ATHLETICS / FIDAL regulations, refreshment stations are planned at the start, finish, and every 5 km along the route: all refreshment points will have water, supplements, and solid foods.

TOILET FACILITIES

Portable toilets will be available in the start area and the finish area.

RACE ASSISTANTS

The organization will provide various groups of race assistants ("pace makers") free of charge to competitors who wish to run the marathon at a steady pace to reach the finish line in the following times: 3h15 – 3h30 – 3h45 – 4h00 – 4h15 – 4h30 – 4h45 - 5h00 – 5h30 - 6h00.

MAXIMUM TIME

The route will be closed to traffic for a maximum time of 6.5 hours. Athletes finishing the course after 6.5 hours will be considered out of the race.

VEHICLES ON THE COURSE

On the race route, by Prefectural ordinance, the transit of all vehicles including bicycles is prohibited. Offenders will be stopped and punished according to the law.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE – MASSAGE SERVICE

Present in the start and finish area and on the course with ambulances and medical personnel. A massage service by specialized physiotherapists is provided.

WITHDRAWN ATHLETES

For athletes who withdraw, all refreshment stations will serve as gathering points; from there they will be taken to the finish area located in Piazza della Porziuncola, Santa Maria degli Angeli (Assisi) where they can collect their personal bag.

FAILURE TO HOLD THE EVENT

In case of race cancellation due to force majeure not dependent on and/or not attributable to the will of the organization, including pandemic and natural events, and/or in case of interruption, suspension of the race, no refund will be due to the participants regarding the registration fee.

The organization reserves the right to consider the possibility of registration at a reduced rate for the following edition.

DECLARATION OF RESPONSIBILITY

By signing the registration form, the competitor declares to know and accept the regulation published on the website www.sanfrancescomarathon.it and to have turned 20 years old by November 17, 2024.
They also expressly declare under their own responsibility not only to have told the truth but to exempt the organizers from any civil or criminal liability for damages and/or things derived from them.

PRIVACY

The personal data collected will be processed in compliance with the principles of correctness, lawfulness, and transparency and to protect your privacy and your rights.
Processing may take place by paper means and through automated storage in the LIFE RUNNING ASSISI ASD computer system;
providing personal data is mandatory to access the services provided by LIFE RUNNING ASSISI ASD;
if the athlete has given their consent on the registration form, they may receive information, including promotional information, both from the association and from its partners;
if the athlete has explicitly given their consent on the registration form, images of them performing amateur sports activities may be published through communication tools deemed functional by the association;
the information acquired will be processed in compliance with privacy regulations and will not be disclosed to third parties who are not appointed or Data Processing Managers, Affiliated Sports Organizations, and CONI, except as specified in point 3 and subject to requests from the judicial authority, the Guardia di Finanza, or other authorized public body;
the legal system (articles 12 - 22 of the GDPR) grants you a series of rights, including, for example, the right to obtain the updating, correction, or integration of data as well as their deletion, transformation into anonymous form or blocking if processed in violation of the law and the right to object to the processing of data for commercial or promotional information purposes, for sending advertising material or for carrying out market research and the right to lodge a complaint with the privacy authority. COMPLAINTS

Any complaints must be submitted in compliance with FIDAL regulations and the R.T.I.

FRAUDULENT PARTICIPATION IN THE RACE – Penalties

The registered athlete is responsible for the ownership and custody of their race bib, acquiring the right to use all the services mentioned in this regulation and subsequently communicated.

Anyone who participates without registration, without a bib, in addition to being held responsible for damages to people or property, including themselves, will face sports sanctions by the competent federal bodies and may be subject to criminal sanctions provided for the crime of “theft” (art. 624. c.p.).
Anyone who participates without registration, with a counterfeit or non-compliant bib, in addition to being responsible as indicated above, will face sports sanctions and may be subject to criminal sanctions provided for the crime of “theft” (art. 624. c.p.), or alternatively, for the crime of “fraud” (art. 640 c.p.).
In cases a) and b) participants may be subject to the sanctions provided for the crime of “failure to comply with Authority provisions” (art. 650 c.p.). The above circumstances will be verifiable only through photographic and/or video documentation.

FINAL WARNINGS

The organizers guarantee the organization of a safe event according to the norms and prescriptions in force at the time of the event. Further specifications will be indicated if necessary.

Any changes to services, locations, and times will be appropriately communicated to registered athletes or will be posted on the website www.sanfrancescomarathon.it.
